The new features in this release include the following:

Date Feature New Feature Description
2/24/2004 Change address:

No actual changes to the program.  Just changing VCR's address and contact information after moving company headquarters to a new building.
5/22/2002 Improvement:
Graphs
Adjusted statistic graphs to start from lowest value other than zero on fields that you can pick to prevent zero or smaller values from plotting below the bottom of the chart.  Where possible, the charts will now range from the lowest value you enter for weight, pulse, humidity, etc. to the highest value you entered for the period being displayed.
2/15/2002 Bug Fixed:
Events - Items that not repeat each year not displaying on Month
Fixed problem with EVENTS tagged NOT to be repeated every year.  They were being displayed correctly on the YEARLY calendar, but they were not being displayed at all on the MONTHLY calendars.
10/4/2001 Bug Fixed:
Events - repeat every year
Fixed problem with EVENTS tagged to be repeated every year.  They were being displayed correctly on the YEARLY calendar, but they were not being displayed at all on the MONTHLY calendars.
9/7/2001 Bug Fixed:
Laps
Fixed rounding problem when Pace for several laps were added up.  Occasionally, when the total seconds equaled exactly "60" it didn't round up.  For example, it displayed total pace as "7 minutes and 60 seconds" instead of "8 minutes and 00 seconds" on the monthly Calendar and Logbook screen.
1/30/2001 Bug Fixed:
Course Map
Increased the length of the number of characters allowed to name a map's graphic file in Courses from 50 to 255.
1/21/2001 Bug Fixed:
Calculator
When computing distances, times or pace in kilometers, if you accidentally entered a none numeric value (letter, decimal, etc.) it would product a Run Time Error 13.  Corrected the calculator so that it will now ignore illegal entries and produce an answer of zero instead of error (and lets you enter correct values).
1/15/2001 Bug Fixed:
Statistic Charts not displaying negative temperatures (brrrr!)
Adjusted Statistic Chart's scale to allow graphs to show negative temperatures (brrrr ... We never anticipated that anyone would log runs using negative temperatures.  We live in Florida and don't even know what "below zero" means, let alone want to go out running when it's that cold ... brrr).
1/3/2001 Bug Fixed:
Statistic Chart's Month Mode not displaying runs for January 2001
Corrected problems with Statistic Charts not displaying runs entered for January 2001 when using the MONTH display mode (YEAR & WEEKS modes worked OK).  Also corrected the VB Runtime Error that resulted when trying to change the END DATE (was incorrectly defaulting to 12/31/1931 instead of 12/31/2001).
7/5/2000 Bugs Fixed:
Calculator problem with some European style Numeric and Date formats
Corrected problems with Runner's Calculator not yielding proper results when distance was entered using European style fractions (using a comma instead of a decimal point or "1,5km" instead of "1.5km").  Also expanded width of Date's columns on Edit/Review Tab so that non USA date formats (ie, "yyyy-mm-dd" or hyphens instead of slashes) would have more room to be displayed.
6/20/2000 Bug Fixed:
Report Not Printing
Trying to print a list of runs from the "Edit/Review Data" Tab produced an error saying that the file (report) "runlist.rpt" could not be found.
4/24/2000 Bug Fixed:
Add New Course
If you added a new course from the "Edit/Review Data" Tab list of courses (instead of while logging a run) and you "pre-entered" the distance for this new course, we reset it to "zero".  We "preset" all values for the new course to be "zero" and then waited until you entered a run to set initial values. Now we no longer preset distance to be "zero" if you decide to enter the initial value for distance and accept this entry instead waiting until you log your first run on the new course.
4/4/2000 Price Drop & New Area Code: Change screens & reports No new features.  Just change screens to show our new area code of "321" (was 407).  Modify Help and  Registration Screens and Reports to reflect our new lower price.
2/3/2000 Bug Fixed:
Runs & Events at end or beginning of a month displayed on next month too
New Weekly Total routine that handles runs that occur in months not displayed, caused a display problem that caused Runs & Events that also occurred in those overlapping weeks to be incorrectly displayed on the next or previous months.
1/31/2000 New Feature:
Auto accept default course's last time
Up until now, if you used a "default" course, your log book's distance and last time was set as the default values, but not "accepted".   Log-a-Jog waited until you  changed the time or "stepped through" the time values before calculating totals.  Now totals are calculated immediately so that if your times are exactly the same as the last run you entered, you can just click on "SAVE" without altering the time or clicking on the course.  If you also use default shoes, milestones and types of runs ... and your last run's time was exactly the same as the new one, then you merely need to click SAVE ... no other entries are now needed.
1/25/2000 Bug Fixed:
Monthly Calendar for runners not in the USA not seeing text and images
Runners who lived outside of the USA and upgraded to Version 3.3 discovered that the Monthly Calendar display was not showing the "text & images" for their runs on the Calendar.  the problem was related to the new Weekly Total routine that handled runs in weeks that were split across different months or years.  It did not handle non-USA date formats (mm/dd/ccyy).  Version 3.4 corrects the Total routines to recognize all date formats (ie: dd-mm-ccyy, dd.mm.yy, etc.)
1/21/2000 New Feature:
Display all runs in a Week, even if in a different months and years
Can now total all runs for a week that overlaps two years, such as the last week of December 1999 and the first week of January 2000.  If you have runs in this week, you will now see all of them totaled in either Week #53 when looking at December 1999, or in Week #1 when looking at January 2000.
1/2/2000 New Feature:
Display all runs in a Week, even if in a different month
Finally able to total all runs in the first and last week of a month, even if the runs occurred in the previous or next month.  Sorry, but we are still unable to display or select these runs that occur prior to or after the currently displayed month.  The Calendar control that we use can only access "current" month days and not the "fill dates" (days from the prior or next month that are used to fill in the display).  If the manufacturer of this control enables this feature, we will immediately add it to Log-a-Jog.
12/29/99 Bug Fixed:
Run Time Error 9
Subscript out of range
New version 3.3 would yield a Run Error 9 (subscript out of range) when trying to display a Statistics Chart immediately after switching runners.
12/24/99 Bug Fixed:
Error 11
Divide by Zero
New version 3.3 would yield an Error 11 (divide by zero) if you added a new course while logging in a new run.
12/20/99 New Feature:
Distance shown in both Miles and KM
When entering in your distances for a run, your overall distance (for all laps) will be shown in both miles and kilometers. Your default distance measurement will be shown on the primary row (in yellow), and the other will be shown below in peach. Also, the word "Distance" in labeling on the logbook screen has been replaced with either "Miles" or "KMs" depending on your default selection.
12/20/99 New Feature:
Speed Calculation
Calculations of you speed (miles/hr or km/hr) are now automatically calculated for your entire run, and also on the new Runner's Calculator.
12/15/99 New Feature:
Runner's Calculator
Quickly calculate pace, distance or time using any of two of the parameters. The Runner's Calculator is accessible from most screens in Log-a-Jog. Simply select which number you want to calculate, and enter in the other two. Distance is expressed in both miles and kilometers, and you can use either distance measurement for your calculations.
12/15/99 New Feature:
Enhanced Graphing
All statistical graphs now include the option to plot mean, min, max, etc. lines. You can toggle through a list of line tops in the 2D mode.
12/15/99 New Feature:
Enhanced Searching
When you click on the column header of fields on the Edit/Review data tab, you will see new searching options, which allow you to search for multiple items of the same field. For instance, you can now search for all runs that were a type of "Race"and "Training."
12/15/99 New Feature:
Lifetime calories now displays as an average
Instead of displaying the total calories burned in your lifetime, calories are now displayed as an average for each work out.

New Features in 3.1

In Log-a-Jog 3.1, you'll see many new features as compared to the 2.4 version. There is no upgrade fee for existing registered customers of any previous version of Log-a-Jog. We'd like to thank everyone who has contacted us over the past months to offer their advice and suggestions for new features - you may see some of your own suggestions in this new version. Listed below are highlights of some of the new features in Version 3.1:

New Monthly Calendar Display

We've chosen to use a new calendar control for the Monthly display. We're now using a calendar control from dbi Technologies. This control has allowed us to add the following new features:
  • Display multiple lines of text on each day
  • Display a picture with each run (choose from one of Log-a-Jog's 48 pre-assigned graphics - ranging from weather conditions, emotions, scenery and a large variety of athletic activities.)
  • Display each Type of Run in a different color
  • Display week numbers on the side of the calendar
  • Print the calendar display
  • Picking your own fonts for text displays
Schedule Events You can now assign dates to your calendar that are not necessarily runs. For instance, you can display birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Plan Races and Set Goals You can now schedule upcoming races and set goals for yourself with Log-a-Jog. When creating a Calendar Event, you can choose if it's an upcoming Race or a Goal. You can enter in your target Pace and Time for the Race/Goal. When that date actually approaches, you can easily convert the Race or Goal to an actual run.
More Type of Run Information You can now store more information about each "Type" of run - including comments. You can also select a color for each Type of Run that each run will be displayed in on the calendar displays. The Type of Run information can now be fully accessed and edited from the Logbook screen.
More Shoe Information You can now store more information about each Shoe - including comments. The Shoe information can now be fully accessed and edited from the Logbook screen.
More Course Information You can now store more information about each Course you run - including comment/directions and a map (or other graphic). You can use mapping programs, such as DeLorme's AAA Map'n'Go, to create maps showing your course - and then make graphics out of them by copying them to a graphics editing program like Paint Brush. You can then reference and display them in Log-a-Jog so you always have a clear picture of what the course is. You can reference any graphic you want if you don't have a mapping program - such as a photograph of a spot along the course.
More Milestone Information You can now store more information about each Milestone - including comments or directions. The Milestone information can now be fully accessed and edited from the Logbook screen.
True Multi-Runner Support Log-a-Jog now completely supports multiple runners - no more having to install a second copy of the program for each runner in your household. Each runner will now have their own database for runs, types, events, shoes, etc. Also each runner with have their own set of preferences (option fields, calendar settings, etc.) You can easily switch between runners at anytime.
More fields displayed on listing On the Edit/Review Tab, you can now view more information about your runs than ever before.
Improved Search/Sort When looking at the listings on the Edit/Review Data tab - you can click on any column heading. This will bring up a small menu giving you options to sort or search on the selected field. If the field is link field (such as Course, Milestone, etc.) you will be able to select multiple items to search for at a time.
Faster Loading Log-a-Jog now loads much quicker than it ever has thanks to the biggest change in Log-a-Jog 3.1 - a total restructuring of the databases. This was a massive change to Log-a-Jog that you probably won't fully appreciate beyond the faster loading. However, the file structures give us flexibility to grow in the future. Because of the massive changes to the databases, anyone upgrading to Log-a-Jog 3.1 from a previous version will need to re-download the full version of Log-a-Jog and go through an upgrade routine (built right into the program) on their existing Log-a-Jog data.
Selective Displays On the Monthly Calendar display and the Graphing (Statistics) display you can choose what kind of activities are displayed. On the Calendar, you can display just true runs (those with distances), non-runs (no distances), events or all three. On Graphs, you can graph just runs (distances) or non-runs (no distance/pace) or both together. This makes it easier than ever to track your non-running activities without interfering with your true runs.
New Reports We've updated the Logbook report to show new fields now available in Log-a-Jog. We've also added a new report that just list the runs you have selected. Also, reports for Shoes, Milestones, Course and Types have been enhanced to display more information.
